BANGALORE: A severe cold wave is likely to grip the state for the next 48 hours following dry weather prevailing in North India. In fact, mercury levels had recently dropped to single digits in parts of the state, forcing people to stay indoors covered in warm clothes.

An officer from the Met Department told Express on Tuesday that a minimum of six degrees Celsius was recorded in Madikeri and maximum of 13 degrees Celsius was recorded in Gadag and Gulbarga.

“The chill will continue in the state for two more days,” he said. Temperatures recorded in important cities in th state on Tuesday are (in degrees Celcius): Belgaum Airport - 7, Bijapur - 9 and Dharwad - 10.
