BANGALORE: In an attempt to infuse dynamism in the party, the JD(S) leadership has decided to tour across the state in the next two months as well as hold five state-level conferences during May-June. This was decided at a meeting of about 60 top JD(S) leaders here on Wednesday.

Party working president P G R Sindhia told Express that the meeting, presided over by former prime minister H D Deve Gowda, also decided to field a candidate in the byelection to the Lok Sabha from Udupi-Chikmagalur parliamentary constituency. “The candidate will be decided at an appropriate time,” Sindhia added.

According to Sindhia, about 10 top leaders of the party led by Gowda will tour the state and address workers meetings besides meet the public with the twin objectives of infusing enthusiasm among its cadre and instil confidence among its core supporters.

“The five conferences - women, SC/ST, youth, OBCs and minority - which we are planning to hold will be in different parts of the state. The idea is to signal to various social groups that the JD(S) is dynamic and is willing to take up their causes. That we will highlight the failures of the BJP government in these conferences needs no mention,” Sindhia added.    Besides Gowda and Sindhia, the meeting was attended by former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, former ministers M C Nanaiah, H D Revanna, Bandeppa Kashampur and former Union minister of state Basavanagouda Patil Yatnal.

Meanwhile, in a decision taken here on Wednesday, Madhu Bangarappa, son of former chief minister late S Bangarappa, has been nominated as the state president of the Yuva Janata Dal(S).
