CHIKMAGALUR: To prevent undue delay by officials of different departments in providing justice to applicants seeking redresssal of their grievances , a Civilian Service Act will be enforced, said District Minister S Suresh Kumar.

He told Express that a decision was taken in this connection at the Cabinet meeting and it would cover 152 services of 11 departments .

I visited Bihar to study the outcome of one such act where only 53 services are brought under its ambit, and I am happy with its results, the minister said.

Sureshkumar also disclosed that the scheme would be introduced as part on an experimental basis in four taluks of four revenue divisons each in Bangalore, Mysore, Gulbarga and Belgaum. “From April next, it will be launched across the state,” he added.

Deputy commissioners will be empowered to take action, including suspension, against officials who fail to attend to the work within the stipulated time.
