MYSORE: Dr D R Vijayakumar, husband of Saritha, a victim of sexual harassment, has decided to approach the HC seeking direction from University of Mysore to impose maximum punishment to Prof Shivabasavaiah.

Saying that mere withdrawing increments and transferring him is a not enough, Vijayakumar expressed displeasure over the UoM Syndicate’s decision which decided to withdraw increments given to the professor and transferred him to Chamarajanagar recently.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Sunday, he maintained that Shivabasavaiah should be dismissed from the service as charges of misconduct against him were proved in the inquiry conducted by the Women Harassment Complaints Inquiry Committee, UoM.

But, the Syndicate had imposed lesser punishment and protected him, he said.

Doubting that UoM V-C Prof V G Talwar was protecting Prof Shivabasavaiah, he said that he will file a petition against the Syndicate’s decision in the High Court seeking directions from the University of Mysore to terminate Prof Shivabasavaiah from service.

Meanwhile, Women’s and Progressive Organisations Federation has decided to stage a protest in front of Crawford Hall, administrative block of University of Mysore, on January 30 at 10.30 am.
