TARIKERE: JD(S) state president HD Kumaraswamy termed the Congress’ allegation that his party was indirectly supporting the BJP candidate in the upcoming Lok Sabha bypoll as “the height of foolishness”. He told reporters on Thursday that the party had not entered into any agreement with Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda just because he is a Vokkaliga.

It is the useless propaganda of the Congress which has become desperate, he added.

Urging the Congress to withdraw its candidate and help the JD(S) defeat the BJP, Kumaraswamy said, “We supported Congress in as many as 20 bypolls but received no gratitude. BJP is a spent force and lacks the capacity to win. Victory will be ours,” he asserted.

Accusing the Congress and BJP of playing spoilsport, he vowed to defeat the BJP in the coming Assembly elections. “The Congress should support us to resolve major problems in the state.”

Kumaraswamy said Union Minister for Corporate Affairs M Veerappa Moily had no moral right to talk about his father H D Deve Gowda. He slammed Moily for failing to take steps to oust the “corrupt” BJP government headed by B S Yeddyurappa though he was serving as Union Law Minister.
