BANGALORE: Expressing shock and concern over the attack on journalists by a section of advocates, Governor H R Bhardwaj blamed the intelligence failure for the Friday’s untoward incidents on the City Civil Court premises.

“It is an intelligence failure. The police should have made elaborate precautionary measures,” Bhardwaj told the delegation of media persons who called him on Saturday seeking his intervention into the matter.

The Governor has also sought a report from the government on the issue. “I have already sought a report. If necessary I will speak to Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda,” Bhardwaj added.

The delegation brought to the notice of the Governor the storage of stones inside the court premises by advocates which indicated that it was pre-planned attack.

Protest by Scribes: Meanwhile, journalists from both print and electronic media took out a huge protest rally from the Press Club of Bangalore to the Mahatma Gandhi Statue on M G Road and condemned the attack on them.

The protesting scribes also rejected  government’s decision to conduct a judicial probe into the incident and demanded a CBI probe. “There are enough proof against the attackers. Entire world  knows who the attackers are. Even then not even a single person has been arrested so far,” they charged.

The media fraternity has urged Governor H R Bharadwaj to examine the feasibility of getting an inquiry conducted into Friday’s violent incidents under the direct supervision of the Chief Justice of India (CJI), in a three-page memorandum submitted to him at Raj Bhavan here on Saturday.
