MANDYA:: Tension prevailed in Kagepura village as the irate villagers burnt two private buses after one of the buses ran over two children.
The accident occurred when a speeding private bus from Malavalli to Maddur hit the victims Prakruthi (7) and Prajwal (12), who were crossing the road. Both the children are battling for their lives at Mandya General hospital, police said. Villagers attacked the bus and set it on fire. Another bus of the same company which had headed to Malavalli was also burnt. T K M Doddi police caned the protestors but failed to bring the situation under control. Police lobbed tear gas shells to disperse the crowd. They had deployed additional force to prevent violence.
