BANGALORE: This was a protest march with a difference, sans the traffic snarls and inconveniencing the public.

More than 1,000 journalists from across the state took part in a silent protest march from the Bangalore Press Club to the Gandhi Statue on M G Road, demanding action against lawyers who attacked scribes at the city civil court on March 2.

The protest march lasting over 15 minutes commenced at the Press Club and ended at the Gandhi statue. The journalists marched alongside the  M Chinnaswamy Stadium and returned via Cubbon Park.

Participants in the protest march said: “Journalists covering court proceedings have to do so in a free and fair manner.”

They added that punitive action will help restore the true spirit of democracy.
