CHIKMAGALUR: Karnataka Rajya Dalita Sangarsh Samiti has extended its support to Congress candidate K Jayaprakash Hegde in the ensuing Lok Sabha byelection.
DSS state convenor Lashminarayana Nagavara told the media on Thursday that in view of the BJP government’s anti-people stand and its nepotism, corruption, scandals and scams, the DSS had taken a decision to support the Congress candidate.
Several DSS teams are convincing Dalit and minority community voters to vote for Hegde as the communal BJP is attempting to saffronise education and has failed to contain atrocities on Dalits, he noted.
Criticising BJP president K S Eshwarappa’s remarks that JD(S) candidate’s entry into the fray had smoothened the path for BJP’s victory, he appealed to secularists in the JD(S) to support the Congress. District DSS convenor B N Nagraj Tarikere, Bangalore district DSS convenor Jeevanahalli R Venkatesh were also present.
