BANGALORE: The High Court on Monday dismissed a criminal petition filed by former minister S N Krishnaiah Setty seeking to quash an FIR against him over a case relating to obtaining loans by submitting fake documents. Justice N Anand dismissed the petition stating that it has no merit in it and is liable for dismissal.

The CBI and State Bank of Mysore (SBM) had filed a petition over a complaint by chief vigilance officer of SBM R D Naidu over  charges of defrauding a bank by obtaining loans by fabricating documents. The CBI in an affidavit had stated that Setty, also proprietor of Balaji Krupa Enterprises, had in collusion with then chief manager of SBM, cheated the bank to the tune of Rs 7.17 crore.  The court earlier directed the CBI to investigate against Setty.
