BANGALORE: Denying that Press Council Chairman Justice Markandeya Katju criticised the formation of the house committee to inquire into porngate, Assembly  Speaker K G Bopaiah said that the former had sent only an “advisory” letter on the issue to him which did not contain any objectionable stand.

He said here on Thursday that Justice Katju was under the impression that media persons who were responsible for exposing the scandal were being targeted and hounded in the state.

Stating that he had written a detailed letter to the Press Council Chairman, the Speaker said that the former had suggested.

Denying that Katju had intervened in the functioning of the Legislature, the  Speaker said that the former had expressed concern over the alleged attempt to target media personnel.

He said that the house committee formed to inquire into the incident had summoned certain media personnel to take their versions into account and not to indict them.
