Rise in assets of Siddu’s wife, son

The family of Congress leader and Varuna candidate Siddaramaiah is not lagging behind when it comes to increase in assets.

Though there was no significant rise in Siddaramaiah’s assets, those of his wife Parvathi, a housewife, and younger son Yathindra, a doctor, saw a sharp increase in the last five years.

According to the affidavit submitted by Siddaramaiah before the 2004 elections, his wife had just Rs1.75 crore worth assets while Yathindra’s was Rs 3.15 lakh. In 2013, it went up to Rs 3 crore and Rs 3.36 crore respectively.

However, Parvathi and Yathindra have liabilities of Rs 46.85 lakh and Rs 1.29 crore respectively. This includes housing loan of Rs 20 lakh (jointly taken with husband Siddaramaiah) and a Rs 61 lakh loan of Yathindra.

The fresh affidavit submitted by Siddaramaiah shows that in 2010, Yathindra bought a 225.70 square metre property on WC Road in Basaveshwara Nagar, Bangalore, at the cost of Rs 1.31 crore. The current market value of the property is Rs 2.10 crore. He has invested Rs 1.20 crore in Prassid YS Diagnostics, a firm which is said to be owned by himself.

Parvathi purchased a 50x80 square feet site in her name at Dattagalli in Mysore in November 2008, for `26.25 lakh. Its current value is Rs 50 lakh. In August 2011, seven acres and five guntas of land was purchased in Kattur village near Mysore in their elder son Rakesh’s name for `8.85 lakh.

The other major properties owned by the family are as follows: In 2004, the former deputy CM bought a commercial property measuring 10,000 square feet in Malleshwaram of which the current market value is `2.80 crore. In 2006, a flat was bought in Parvathi’s name. Its current market value is Rs 75 lakh.

The total assets of the family are worth Rs12 crore and liabilities Rs 2.89 crore. Siddaramaiah’s individual assets are Rs 4.48 crore and liabilities are Rs 1.12 crore.
