The Lokayukta police raided 21 premises belonging to seven government officials, for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income. Assets worth around Rs 4.5 crore were recovered from the officials in simultaneous raids in four districts.
The government officials under the scanner are the Director of the Karnataka Institute of Leather Technology Chikkaiah, BBMP Executive Engineer Rangaiah, Shantinagar Excise Inspector Krishna Murthy, Yelahanka Food Inspector K Prakash, Secretary of Hubli KSRTC Employees Credit Co-operative Society G Prakashmurthy, Superintendent of Gulbarga RTO Office Shivashankarappa Manoli and Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of the Yadgir District Urban Development Cell Bandeppa.
Additional Director-General of Police of the Lokayukta H N S Rao said, “FIRs were registered on Thursday for disproportionate assets case. Raids were conducted by seven teams of officials and several assets and lockers are yet to be verified.”
