NABARD sanctions Rs113 crore to state

Karnataka will receive a loan of Rs 113.70 crore from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, out of a total allocation of Rs 900 crore, as part of the first phase for various rural and agricultural infrastructure projects in the state.

The loan has been sanctioned for the construction of 354 roads of 510 KM length and 22 bridges of 424 meters. This is expected to benefit close to 40 lakh rural population in 29 districts by connecting 1006 villages with 404 marketing centres. Non recurring employment to the tune of Rs 36.07 lakh man days and recurring employments of 288 jobs per year will be generated from this project.

The loan will also help in setting up 136 anganwadis in various villages in the state.
