Chief Minister Siddaramaiah favours holding the Budget session in February-March at the Suvarna Soudha here.

Siddaramaiah plans to present his second Budget as Chief Minister in the Vidhana Soudha at Bangalore and the discussion in Suvarna Soudha at Belgaum. However, a final decision in this regard will be taken after consulting the Assembly Speaker and Council Chairman, he said.

He told Express that the idea of holding the Budget discussion in Belgaum came to his mind as the government is committed to making optimum use of the infrastructure available at Suvarana Soudha.

On shifting a few government offices to the Suvarna Soudha, the chief minister said the government had already set up a committee to look into this. “We will take a decision after the committee submits its report,” he said.

He also expressed satisfaction over the proceedings of the winter session that concluded on Friday. “Barring the unfortunate incident of suicide of sugarcane grower Vittal Arabhavi, the session was by and large fruitful,” he said.

Several important Bills were passed. Meaningful debates were held on issues like Upper Krishna and Kalasa Banduri projects and issues pertaining to North-Karnataka region, he said.
