Govt Likely to Lift Embargo on Some Recruitments Today

The State Cabinet, at its meeting on Thursday, is likely to defreeze recruitment in a few departments, Law and Parliamentary minister T B Jayachandra said here on Wednesday.

He told reporters that the delivery of government services was hurt badly as thousands of posts in different departments are not yet filled. “I would raise the issue when the Cabinet meets on Thursday and seek redressal of the problem,” he said.

Informing that the Finance Department was flooded with appeal from different departments seeking permission to fill the vacant posts, Jayachandra said, “I will appeal to the Chief Minister to dispose of such proposals, at least in key departments, on priority.”

Some of the departments that are likely to see defreeze in recruitment, include Revenue, Food and Civil Supplies, and Urban Development. He said despite all odds, Sakala scheme, which guarantees delivery of government services, is being implemented properly.

Chikkaballapur district has retained its top rank in the implementation of the Sakala, followed by Uttara Kannada and Ramanagaram. Bidar (30), Yadagir (29) and Bellary (28) districts remained at lower ranks in terms of implementing the scheme, he said. Among the taluks, Karwar in Uttara Kannada and Gudibande in Chikkaballapur district continue to dominate the top position and Dharwad taluk has been showing a good promise, he said.

The scheme has been shortlisted for the Prime Minister award for Excellence in Public Governance for 2013.
