BJP Hand-in-glove with Maoists: MP

Strongly denying Congress’ role in the massacre of his partymen by Maoists in Chhattisgarh, AICC general secretary B K Hariprasad on Friday blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for it.

During a ‘meet the press’ programme organised here, Hariprasad alleged that the massacre occurred as part of the BJP’s tacit understanding with the extremist group.

“In Chhattisgarh, the BJP and Maoists work with clear understanding. Chief Minister Raman Singh himself had admitted his folly in failing to prevent the mishap,” he said.

“The NIA is conducting an investigation and a true picture will emerge if the probing agency submits its report,” the Rajya Sabha member said.

Hariprasad denied that infighting within the Chhattisgarh Congress had led to the massacre in which over 32 Congress leaders, including the Pradesh Congress Committee president, were killed. The Maoist groups had ambushed the Congress leaders when they were going for a party rally in the state.

Charging that the total debt of Gujarat has increased multifold after the BJP came to power, he said: “The per capita debt burden on every Gujarati stands at about `49,000.”

To queries, the AICC leader complimented Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on completing six months in office and for no incidents of attack on women, churches and communal clashes.

Hariprasad also said he would like to contest the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Karwar or Bangalore Central if the party decides to field him.
