34 services added to Sakala

The state government has decided to bring 34 more services under the Sakala programme, which provides government services to citizens within a stipulated time frame. It was decided in the Cabinet meeting held here on Monday.

The Cabinet also decided to submit the response of the State government to the High Court on the recommendations of the Karnataka Elephant Task Force. The task force set up by the High Court had recommended for a time-bound review of clearances granted or pending for various projects, including mini-hydel projects in forest areas. The Cabinet was supposed to grant nearly 35 acres of government lands to various religious institutions. Though this subject was listed in the agenda, the Cabinet deferred it fearing that it would attract the violation of the poll code being imposed in the wake of ULB polls.
