Jumbos destroy crops in Malur taluk

A herd of 23 elephants entered into the Palamadugu and Dinnur villages of Malur taluk in the district and destroyed crops on Tuesday night.

The herd came from the Hosur forest in Tamil Nadu, forest officials said.

According to assistant conservator of forests Puttanna, the elephants had entered into the field in search of food and water. This was the same herd that had been chased back into Tamil Nadu a month ago, according to him.

He assured that all measures were being taken by the forest department to chase the herd back into Tamil Nadu.
