A team of youths comprising eight school and college dropouts was lauded by engineering students and faculty members of Akshaya Institute of Technology here for making it to the Limca Book of Records.

The team called ‘WF1008,’ developed and hosted 36 websites by working nonstop for 14 hours with only a one hour break. The project was the brainchild of PUC dropout Prathik Jain, who works in a jewellery shop here and Mohith Jain, a class IX dropout from Chennai. The duo became friends on Facebook.

The team wanted to reach out to the unreachable with the new media at a minimum rate, their motto being “Har aadmi online @ aam admi price”. They offered to build websites for 36 customers at just `1,008.

They developed www.maxsilver.in, for a local jewellery brand and another website www.aicro.org, for a New Delhi-based NGO. The team also worked on websites such as Tdksfa.in, ishikaishita.in, purpleratan.in, rcideaclub.in and ohk

acn-tumkur.in for individuals who were thrilled to have their own sites, said Prathik.

It is a team effort as ‘WF1008’ would not have been possible without the support of their tech savvy friends Vikesh, Akshit, Arunachalam, Pradeep, Amish Jain and Narendra.
