'Kanaka Shree' Award for Prof A V Navada

BENGALURU: The prestigious literary award ‘Kanaka Shree’ was conferred on Prof A V Navada at an event held at the Ravindra Kalashetra on Saturday.

The former professor of Hampi University was given the award for his contribution to research work on Kanaka Dasa. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah while speaking about the poet said Kanaka Dasa’s teachings were relevant even today.

“The whole state celebrated his birthday today. More people should know about his life and  message,” he said. Two books highlighting Kanaka Dasa’s life and one audio book were also released at the event. “We are trying to translate Kanaka Dasa’s works into many languages including foreign languages,” said Siddaramaiah.

“Kanaka Dasa does not belong to a single caste or religion. He is above it all and that’s how all of us should aim to be,” he said.

Umashree, Minister for Kannada and Culture said the department was working towards spreading Kanaka Dasa’s message far and wide. Mayor Shantakumari and  others were present.
