HDI: Bengaluru Urban, DK, Udupi Top List

BENGALURU:Grama panchayats in Bengaluru Urban, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts have achieved above average Human Development Index (HDI) with regard to standard of living, health and education.

Chief Minister Siddaramiah on Monday released the latest HDI report that was compiled by Abdul Nazir Sab Institute of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj and Planning, Programme Monitoring and Statistics Department. According to the report, they have used 11 parameters including access to cooking fuel, toilets, safe drinking water, electricity, pucca houses, percentage of workers in non-agriculture sector and per capita income and many more. They have used the number of child deaths and maternal deaths for health parameters and for education, enrolment to primary and secondary education in respective grama panchayats has been considered.

According to the report, all 93 Gram panchayats in Bengaluru Urban, 206 GPs in Dakshina Kannada and 148 GPs in Udupi achieved hundred per cent human development index in standard of living, health and education compared to the state average. But all GPs in Yadgir district are below the average of HDI figures, the report said.
