Countdown begins for Kannada Sahitya Sammelan in Raichur

Countdown has begun for the All-India Kannada Sahitya Sammelan to be held on December 2, 3 and 4.

RAICHUR: Countdown has begun for the All-India Kannada Sahitya Sammelan to be held on December 2, 3 and 4. The land of Krishna, Tungabhdra, popularly called Doab, is hosting the Sammelan.
Renowned litterateur, progressive thinker and film director Nadoja Baragur Ramachandrappa is the Sammelan president. The Sammelan will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

A procession will be taken out from Karnataka Sangha passing through Netaji Circle, Patel Circle, Chandramouleshwar Circle, Gandhi Circle, Basaveshwara Circle and it will culminate at University of Agriculture college where the Sammelan will be held.  A 3,500-foot long Kannada flag will be the attraction of the procession. More than 10,000 students are expected to participate in the procession. More than 80 artiste troupes will perform at the procession. Former Sammelan president Nadoja Siddalingaiah will address the gathering. Sammelan president Baragur Ramachandrappa will speak. Kannada and Culture Minister Umashree will inaugurate the cultural programmes.

Cultural programmes
Various cultural programmes will be held at the Sammelan. On day one, cultural programmes will be held from 6 pm to 11.30 pm. International artiste Pandit Wadavati Narasimhalu will play clarinet while V S Matha Pathi will play violin. Pichchalli Srinivas will recite folk songs, Bidar Noopur and his team will perform group dance, Sheshagiridas will perform Dasavani, Mahalaxi and team will recite Bhavageethegalu and Inchara team from Bengaluru will perform Sugama Sangeeta programme.
