BENGALURU: A huge relief is in store  for those heading to Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna railway station, KSRTC and BMTC depots in Majestic area.
More than half of the busy Upparpet police station road that was closed for over two months to facilitate work on Kempe Gowda Interchange Metro station is set to be reopened in a week.
Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) will soon be asphalting the road.
The stretch from Upparpet police station road to Shanthala Silk Circle was barricaded by Metro to carry out works after the tunnel boring machine ‘Krishna’ emerged on September 23.

“We will be restoring the road next week. Due to rains in the last three days, work could not be carried out here,” Pradeep Singh Kharola, BMRCL Managing Director, told Express.
The entrance to the southern corridor of the Kempe Gowda Interchange station will come up here shortly. “The steel bridge on the road that had been dismantled has been restored. Work went on gradually and cautiously as we could not compromise on safety aspects,” Kharola added.
Meanwhile, the tunnel boring machine has been fully dismantled and removed from the spot. It may be required for Phase 2, the MD said. The southern entrance will be as grand as the present entrance on the western side for the East-West Corridor, he added.

All works pertaining to the Kempe Gowda station will be completed by December-end, he said. Meanwhile, full-fledged trial runs between National College and Yelachenahalli that commenced on November 30, are said to be proceeding smoothly.
Regarding airport connectivity, the public is in favour of the Nagawara route to airport. BMRCL received 1,300 suggestions from public for airport connectivity when the Detailed Project Report was uploaded on public domain.
