BENGALURU: Chief Minister Siddarmaiah will lead an all-party delegation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday seeking Rs 4,656 crore in central aid to take up drought relief works in the state. The CM is also expected to request Modi yet again to intervene and resolve the Mahadayi river water row between Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra.

However, the PM’s office had not confirmed an appointment as of Thursday night and Siddaramaiah has expressed his displeasure over this. Siddaramaiah, who arrived in New Delhi on Thursday evening, held a meeting with the MPs from Karnataka and discussed the issues to be taken up with the Prime Minister.

Siddaramaiah is set to submit a revised memorandum seeking central assistance of Rs 4,656 crore to take up drought relief works.

The revised memorandum has been prepared after a detailed study of the impact of drought in 139 taluks and floods in many parts of northern Karnataka.

The state suffered crop loss to the tune of Rs 16,000 crore owing to deficient rainfall in 139 taluks, besides losses of Rs 386 crore because of excessive rainfall in some taluks.
