BAGALKOT: Hundreds of BJP workers took out a protest rally through the main streets and conducted a mock funeral of former minister H Y Meti, here on Wednesday.
They also burnt an effigy of Meti to express their anguish over the sex scandal.
“Such leaders are not wanted by people, they should quit active politics and the government should take necessary action against them,” the agitators said.
Addressing them on the Hole Anjaneya temple premises, former MLA Veeranna Charantimath said this incident is an insult to people of the district and people should teach a lesson to the Congress in the coming elections.
The agitators said Meti ignored development work. ZP member Huvappa Rathod said there is corruption everywhere under the Congress government.
