Special bus in Mandya for former TN CM Jayalalithaa's rituals

A special bus was run in Mandya inviting the public to take part in the 13th-day ceremony of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa to be held on Saturday.

MANDYA : A special bus was run in Mandya inviting the public to take part in the 13th-day ceremony of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa to be held on Saturday. The bus toured Chamundi Hill, Moguru, Bannur, Melukote, Narasipura, Pandavapura, inviting people to take part in Jayalalithaa’s ‘Vaikuntha Samaradhane’ which will be performed as per Vaishanava tradition.

Kollegal Veeranjaneya Swamy Temple priest Raghavan will perform the rituals and will be accompanied by priests Ranganath Iyengar and Ramanuja Iyengar. Raghavan said, “On the day of ‘Vaikunta Samaradhane’, friends and relatives of the deceased will take part in a ceremony and pray that the departed soul would enter Vaikunta.”

Meanwhile, relatives of Jayalalithaa who had performed her last rites as per ‘Vaishnava’ tradition at Paschima Vahini on the banks of Cauvery in Srirangaptana recently, held her 12th day rituals. 

Kin demand CBI probe into her deathJaya’s relatives Amrutha, Vasudevan and others took part in the 12th day rituals. Addressing media persons, Amrutha demanded that the Union government order a CBI probe into the former Tamil Nadu chief minister’s death death and make public the “true reason of her death”.

“We had never thought we would be performing our aunt’s last rites in this manner. Her death is not natural. Its a pre-planned murder,” she alleged. 

Accusing Jayalalithaa’s confidante Sasikala  of “murdering” her, she alleged: “Sasikala is the one who has killed my aunt to become chief minister.”She said Vasudevan also wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking an inquiry against Sasikala.
