Three debt-ridden farmers commit suicide

Three debt-ridden farmers have allegedly ended their lives in Mysuru and Mandya districts here on Friday.

MYSURU&MANDYA : Three debt-ridden farmers have allegedly ended their lives in Mysuru and Mandya districts here on Friday. 

A 35-year-old Prasanna, a resident of Haranahalli village in Periyapatna taluk has commited suicide by consuming pesticides. He had grown jower in his land and with crops drying, he took the extreme step. He had borrowed `5.5 lakh from money lenders and bank. 

In another case, a tobacco grower, Vijaykumar (29) of Rayanahalli village, died after consuming poison on Thursday night. The deceased had grown tobacco in his 2.5 acres and had borrowed a total for `8 lakh from money lenders and banks.

In the third case, farmer Boregowda (63), a resident of Biddirahosahalli Village in Mandya district ended his life by hanging himself. He had sunk four borewells by borrowing money. When all the borewells went dry, he was depressed and hanged himself.
