MYSURU: Traffic on Mysuru-Bengaluru Road was thrown out of gear for more than an hour on Monday morning after protesters blocked the highway near Maddur. They were demanding justice for the death of two JD(S) party workers, who were stabbed in a group clash at Thoppanahalli village in Maddur taluk on Sunday.People returning to Bengaluru from the weekend holiday in and around Mysuru had to bear the brunt of the protesters.

On Sunday evening, two JD(S) workers — Nandish (25) and Muthuraj (48) — were stabbed to death and three others injured following a clash between two groups over water. Five people were arrested in connection with the incident on Monday.
Police sources said there was a running feud between two groups over drinking water in the village. The rivalry escalated on Sunday morning after a flex board was torn off leading to the assault of a youth in the village. Around 8 pm, the two groups were at each others’ neck, during which the duo were stabbed. They were rushed to a hospital in Mysuru. However, Muthuraj died on the way and Nandish died in the hospital.
JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy visited Maddur and consoled the kin of the deceased. Speaking to reporters, he lambasted Home Minister G Parameshwara and said the law and order in the state has completely collapsed under him.

“Parameshwara is said to have the ability to become chief minister. There is no fear for police and every day around 10 murders take place in the state,” he said.
He took objection to DG&IGP Om Prakash being given six months extension and sought to know whether it is to do with ‘vasooli’ (collection). He alleged that the government is making money out of police recruitments and transfers.  He also demanded removal of the Home Minister’s adviser Kempaiah.

JD(S) will break hold of Congress, BJP in N-K Region: HDK
Bengaluru: JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy on Monday hit out at both Congress and BJP, saying the JD(S) would break their hold in North Karnataka. He added that JD(S) will announce candidates for 130 seats in the 2018 Assembly elections and, from January 1, he would embark on a tour of all gram panchayats. Responding to Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Jagadish Shettar’s dismissive comments against him for setting up a base in Hubballi, Kumaraswamy said Shettar was holding on to his post as leader of the Opposition only at the mercy of BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa.
