MYSURU: Scores of two-wheelers developed technical snags and broke down after refilling fuel in a petrol station located at Megalapura village on T Narasipura road near here. A mix-up of diesel and petrol was said to be the reason.

According to the motorists, their vehicles started emitting white smoke before coming to a halt a few kilometres after refuelling at the fuel station on Monday night. More than 100 bikers staged a protest in front of the fuel station on Tuesday morning alleging that it has indulged in adulteration of petrol.

They blocked the Mysuru-T Narasipura road for sometime and demanded that the fuel station should get their vehicles repaired. Later, it was found that petrol and diesel had mixed up after one of the underground tanks got damaged while unloading fuel on Monday night.

Sources said the owner of the pump assured to get all the vehicles repaired following which the protest was withdrawn.

Petroleum officials inspected the fuel tanks as a precautionary measure.
