Two suspended over Lokayukta door fire

BENGALURU:  Two night watchmen of the Karnataka Lokayukta have been suspended in connection with the incident in which the institution’s office door was set on fire recently.

The suspended duo are Bettaswamy Gowda and Venkataramanappa. Unidentified miscreants had set fire to the main door of the Lokayukta office at MS Building, located next to the Vidhana Soudha, on October 20.
Though fire and rescue personnel doused the blaze, the door was badly gutted. However, no documents were damaged.

A lokayukta officia said there were no watchmen outside the building to keep a vigil. The suspended watchmen were deployed inside the office. These two had to look after all the five floors and godown. But they were suspended for the fire outside the office, the official said.
After the fire, security personnel have been deployed outside the Lokayukta office during night.
