MYSURU: ‘Negligence’ of officials to cover an open sump claimed the life of a four-year-old child at Ambedkar Samudhaya Bhavan in Ramabai Nagar here on Friday.
Subhash died after he accidentally fell into the open sump. Subhash, son of Nagamma, would visit anganwadi centre adjacent to the bhavan frequently. While playing inside the bhavan, he allegedly fell into the sump. A few workers in the bhavan noticed the floating body of the child on Saturday and informed the parents. The parents who were searching for the child from Friday afternoon, rushed to the spot.
The family members blamed the officials for the tragedy. Residents of Srirampura said though they have asked the officials several times to close the sump, they turned a blind eye towards the issue.
