Thin attendance at session

A former minister argued that drought could be debated the next day too as the session was on for two weeks but the wedding could not be missed.

BELAGAVI: Though BJP leaders, including leader of opposition in the assembly Jagadish Shettar, and C T Ravi spoke at length on the drought, plight of farmers and sought waiver of loan, the thin attendance in the House took away the import of the session.

Congress legislators  and former ministers, who Express spoke to, said they left for the wedding soon after signing the attendance register. They said it took them time to reach the venue due to the sheer number of invitees in Gokak.

A former minister argued that drought could be debated the next day too as the session was on for two weeks but the wedding could not be missed.

However, some ministers who stayed away said they would take part in the reception later in the evening.
Sources said Siddaramaiah may visit Jarkiholi’s house on Tuesday morning to avoid public glare.
