MYSURU: Pani puri for Rs 1, masala puri for Rs 2, samosa masala for Rs 3 and jalebi for Rs 4.
Yes, you are reading correctly. This a menu at a sweets and chaat shop. You can forget demonetisation worries for a while, eating the highly discounted snacks at Vaishnavi Sweets and Snacks on Panchamantra Road at Kuvempunagar in Mysuru.

The shop owner, G Naveen, has made use of the demonetisation vagaries to popularise his shop by offering chaat items at throw away prices.

The offer has become an instant hit and people have been thronging the shop since Wednesday.

Naveen says, “Business has gone down drastically due to demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes. People are struggling to get change for big currency notes. I offered items on the menu at low prices so that people can relax  eating snacks.”

“We had planned that the first 1,000 customers will be provided chats for low prices. But more people started coming to the shop. Unable to meet the customers’ demands, I finally started providing items at low prices from 6 pm to 9 pm. The response has been very good,” he adds.

The three-day offer will last till Friday. In the last two days, more than 7,000 customers thronged the shop. The shop owner expects more than 6,000 customers on Friday.
