Man accidentally shot dead during hunt in Silsi taluk

A 26-year-old man was killed after he was accidentally shot by a fellow hunter in the forest area falling under Kulave gram panchayat limits of Sirsi taluk on Sunday.

SIRSI: A 26-year-old man was killed after he was accidentally shot by a fellow hunter in the forest area falling under Kulave gram panchayat limits of Sirsi taluk on Sunday. The deceased is Nagaraj Naikar of Devisare of Siddapur taluk. Identity of the fellow hunter is yet to be ascertained.

Nagaraj had gone for wild boar hunting, accompanied by 10-15 people. A gun held by one of the fellow hunters went off, killing him on Sunday afternoon.

On Monday morning, Sirsi rural police visited the spot. Sources said another man was also injured in the incident. But police were clueless about it.

Sirsi Rural PSI JB Sitaram told Express, “We came to know about the incident on Monday and we brought the body to Sirsi for postmortem. Prima facie, it appears as an accident. It is not yet known who was handling the gun and investigation is on.” An FIR was yet to be filed in the case.
