For the first time, elected-representatives including former minister HD Revanna and MLA HS Prakash and Mayor HS Anil Kumar were absent when the doors of the temple were opened. It may be recalled that the JD(S) leaders are unhappy with the decision of the district authority which deputed ex-servicemen at the temple.

Earlier, a group of priests led by chief priests Nagaraj and Bhat offered pooja in the sanctum sanctorum and opened the doors after Nanjaraje Urs from Arasu family cut the holy banana tree in front of the temple. The devotees witnessed fresh flowers on goddess and the lighting lamp which is the specialty of the temple.

District Minister A Manju, ZP president Sweta, MLC Gopalaswamy and senior officials had a tough time while entering the sanctam sanctorum due to heavy crowd.
Devotees were standing in a queues for a glimpse of the goddess on the first day.

ADC stopped at the gate Interestingly, an ex-servicemen deployed at entrance gate didn’t allow the Additional Deputy Commissioner Janaki into the temple asking for her identity card. Later, they allowed the ADC and stopped her husband and sister.
The temple will remain open for 13 days.
