Land encroachment: 45 house owners get time to file objections

BENGALURU: The High Court on Friday ordered the district administration and local bodies not to dispossess owners of 45 houses at Ideal Homes, HBCS Layout, in Rajarajeshwarinagar.

Hearing a batch of petitions filed by one M C Balamurali and others, Justice S Abdul Nazeer asked the petitioners to file their objections within four weeks to the notice issued by the authorities on September 28. The judge also gave liberty to the authorities to pass orders in accordance with the law after considering the objections submitted by the petitioners.

In the notice issued under Section 104 of the Karnataka Land Revenue Act, the authorities have asked the residents to show documents in support of the properties, which were constructed by allegedly encroaching on government land, or they will be evicted.

CBI gets notice on Reddy mining cases

THE High Court on Friday issued notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with a batch of petitions filed by former tourism minister G Janardhana Reddy.In the petitions, Reddy has challenged the proceedings pending before the CBI Special Court with regard to illegal export of iron ore from Belekeri port. Hearing the petition pertaining to four cases, Justice Anand Byrareddy issued notice to the CBI before adjourning hearing to the next week.

The four cases relate to alleged illegal export of iron ore from Belekeri port by M/s Dream Logistics, M/s SB Logistics, M/s ILC Industries and Shree Mallikarjun Shipping Pvt Ltd.Reddy claimed that he was made to face trial even though he was not involved in illegal excavation or export of iron ore. These allegations were already covered in the main case. Therefore, there was no provision in law to prosecute him again on similar allegations, he contended.
