Yettinahole put on fast track

BENGALURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday asked officials to speed up the Yettinahole drinking water project. Siddaramaiah wants to see tangible progress in implementation of the `12,900-crore project before his term ends in 2018. He instructed officials to work on the project on a priority basis, speed up land acquisition and get environmental clearances, Water Resources Minister M B Patil said.

The project envisages to provide drinking water to Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Bengaluru Rural and Tumakuru districts.

The state government has established a corporation for speedy implementation of the project. The project has been divided into five packages and work on three packages are 50 per cent complete.

Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa, Health Minister Ramesh Kumar, Agriculture Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra, Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy and Chikkaballapur Lok Sabha member M Veerappa Moily too part in the meeting.
