No Aadhaar redressal mechanisms in Karnataka districts

Lack of grievance cells at the district level has forced people from towns and villages to travel hundreds of kilometres to the UIDAI office in Bengaluru.

BENGALURU: Every time an Aadhaar-based initiative is announced, the number of complaints or grievances increase simultaneously, say Aadhaar officials. However, lack of grievance cells at the district level has forced people from towns and villages to travel hundreds of kilometres to the UIDAI office in Bengaluru.

Speaking to Express, Manjunath, a resident of Gubbi in Tumakuru, said, “I had enrolled twice since 2012, but I had not received my Aadhaar number,” he said. He visited the UIDAI office in Bengaluru where staff were able to locate his first enrolment number.

Suleiman Khan wanted to update the address on his Aadhaar number. He said he was forced to travel to Bengaluru from Kolar as he could not find an updation centre there.

Like them, tens of people are seen queuing up at UIDAI office daily.
