BENGALURU: Congress manifesto for the 2018 election will have five big programmes to ensure overall development in social and economic sectors in the state, said former Chief Minister M Veerappa Moily. He is heading the committee that is preparing the party’s manifesto.

Speaking to media persons at the KPCC headquarters in the city, Moily said the party’s manifesto ‘Pratibimba’ (reflections) will include a number of pro-people programmes and will be released after getting approval from party’s central election manifesto committee. The committee is holding consultations with representatives from different sectors and regions and seeking suggestions from them before drafting the manifesto, he said. On Monday, they held consultations with representatives of industries in Bengalurue Rural, Kolar, Ramanagara and other districts.

The committee will look into the implementation of assurances that were made in the election manifesto 2013. The programmes that are yet to be implemented will be included in the next budget to be presented by the CM, he said.

‘PM Modi desperate’
Lashing out at the BJP leaders, who are targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during the ongoing Gujarat elections, Moily said the BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Modi, are desperate and trying to emotionally blackmail voters in Gujarat. The PM is visiting each of the assembly segments in Gujarat and now he is not in a position to come to BJP chief ministerial candidate B S Yeddyurappa’s rescue. “Yeddyurappa is also in a helpless position and that is the reason he is making false allegations against Siddaramaiah,’’ he added.
