BENGALURU: Horticultural Producers Co-operative Marketing and Processing Society (HOPCOMS) will soon start delivering vegetables at your doorstep. This is in the wake of online order services offered by several private players of late.
HOPCOMS, that runs in five districts, including Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Kolar, Chikkaballapur and Ramanagara has 325 outlets.
HOPCOMS Managing Director Krishna told Express: “Soon, people in Bengaluru will be able to order vegetables online by logging into HOPCOMS website. We are likely to launch this service in the second week of this month. After reviewing the response in city, the facility will be extended to other places.”
“To avail the facility, one just needs to log into the website, select vegetables and their quantity and mention the delivery address. We have 275 outlets in Bengaluru and based on the address, the nearest outlet person will be informed of the demand. He will then deliver vegetables at the doorstep of customers,” he added.
“In case the quantity of vegetables to be delivered is huge, HOPCOMS head office will directly send the vegetables to the customer. We are yet to set a figure in this regard,” Krishna said.
A private agency will help HOPCOMS pick vegetables from outlet/head office and deliver them to customers. Mode of payment is, however, yet to be decided.
“We have cash-on-delivery and online payment options. Feasibility of payment through Paytm is also being studied,” said an official.
