BALLARI: The Karnataka Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which is investigating former minister H Y Meti's alleged sex tape case, interrogated RTI activist Rajashekar Mulali, who was in possession of the tape and former Deputy Superintendent of police (DySP) Anupama Shenoy at the government guest house here on Wednesday.

CID DySP C R Ravishankar and his team questioned Rajashekar Mulali , for two hours in the morning, from 12 noon to 2 pm. The CID questioned Anupama Shenoy from 3 pm to 5.30 pm. The CID had summoned Mulali for questioning in Bengaluru on January 28.

However, Mulali had sought a different date for questioning as he could not attend questioning on that day. As a result, the CID questioned both Mulali and Shenoy on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters after the interrogation, Rajasekhar Mulali said he answered the questions of the CID sleuths. "I shared all the information I had,” he said and added that there was no need for the CID to interrogate some journalists in connection with the case.

The CID has already questioned four journalists in Bengaluru recently. It has served notice to four more journalists on Wednesday asking them to attend for questioning.

The sex tape case was made public on December 12, 2016, costing Meti his berth as Excise Minister in the state cabinet. While many senior party leaders had sided with the minister, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had told the minister to be prepared to quit his post if the alleged sex row CD was true.

A woman, who had later claimed to be the victim on a T V channel had accused H Y Meti of having sought sexual favours from her in exchange for a transfer request. While she claimed to be a victim, she denied being the one in the alleged CD.

However, the victim’s statement was contradicted by her husband Basavaraj Sarur, who told media she was the woman in the H Y Meti’s sex tape. He also claimed to be a relative of the accused former Congress minister who resigned days after the 30-minute clip was released.
