The work on a much-awaited memorial for film star Vishnuvardhan has run into legal trouble with a local court staying work at the site.

MYSURU: The work on the much-awaited memorial for film star Vishnuvardhan has run into legal trouble with a local court staying work at the site. The farmers who were tilling the land so far have approached the court claiming that they were in possession of the land for more than 20 years.

The district administration, with the government approval, had sanctioned five acres near Udbur in Mysuru taluk for the memorial. Bharthi Vishuvardan, wife of the actor, and other family members laid the foundation stone and the authorities of Kanteerava Studio had also started fencing the allotted land.

When contacted, Kanteerava Studio member secretary Shankarappa said a local court has given an injunction for halting the work. However, the Mysuru taluk tasildhar has filed an appeal to reject the petition and allow them to carry out the construction of the memorial.
