VEERAPUR/DHARWAD: An ex-student who was urinating in his alma mater during night time  has finally been nabbed by the police after six months of search by the villagers and school authorities.
His act was caught on the cameras installed at the school and the man has been remanded in judicial custody.
For many months, the teachers and students of the government school in Veerapur village were fed up with the ‘unidentified’ miscreant who used to dirty the school premises after nightfall. The locks of classrooms also used to be broken.

The problem did not end for many months, though the school authorities doubled the guards during night hours. The villagers joined hands with school authorities to catch the culprit, but in vain.
It is said that the man wrote posters challenging the school authorities to identify and catch him. Finally the school authorities and villagers decided to install cameras at the school  by ooling in money.

“Four cameras were fixed at various points. However, one of the cameras was found damaged the very next day. When we observed the tape, we could recognise the man as Siddappa Karachagatti,  a past student and were shocked. We informed villagers who caught him and handed him over to police,” said school principal H R Kulkarni.

“Siddappa’s younger brother who studies in the same school is now refusing to attend classes owing the revelation of mysterious visitor,” he added.
“The accused was planning to buy a two-wheeler and wanted to rob money. It is not sure why he used to pee inside the school,” said police. Gram Panchyat president Irappa Jirgod said Siddappa had also burnt some school documents.
