DODDABALLAPUR: Life in Sasalu village of Doddaballapur came to a standstill on Thursday where Mysuru Lokayukta SP Ravi Kumar’s final rites were held with full state honours. The SP died in a car crash in Kumbalgodu police limits.

Central Range Inspector General of Police Seemant Kumar Singh, Mysuru division Inspector General Vipul Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Talaiah and SP Amit Singh attended the funeral. Apart from senior police officers, Ravi’s classmates and officials from Mysuru also attended the funeral.
Before the burial, the mortal remains of Ravi Kumar were taken in a procession. Many were in tears when the last rites were performed.

When they came to know that Home Minister Parameshwara and District Minister Krishna Byre Gowda were not attending the funeral, the villagers protested.  MP Veerappa Moily and MLA T Venkatramanaiah pacified the agitators stating that both the ministers were busy. Later the agitators withdrew their protest.
A farmer’s son

Ravi Kumar hailed from a farmer’s family. He completed his primary and secondary education at Sasalu village and completed his degree in Koratagere of Tumkuru district by staying in his sister’s house. Later he completed his TCH and worked as teacher for four years before taking up the police job.
