BENGALURU: Any school affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) that ignores the transportation guidelines issued by the Supreme Court will have to face disaffiliation. The board has issued a circular on transportation of kids to schools and back.

Following recent incidents where some school buses caught fire and met with accidents, in which the safety of kids was ignored, the board said, “After a few media reports regarding the callous approach by certain schools with respect to the safety of children during transit has agitated a deep concern.

It is high time to sensitise schools to this issue so that they take proactive remedial measures to ensure that safe transport for school children becomes one of the paramount safety objective for every CBSE affiliated schools.”

CBSE authorities also told that time to time circulars were issued by the board on safety of children, along with the bylaws.

“The management and head of the CBSE schools will be held responsible for any lapse in safety of kids during transit which would invite appropriate action, including the disaffiliation of the school as per the provisions under affiliation bylaws,” said the board.
