Land worth Rs 250 crore recovered from encroachers

The Urban District administration has recovered 40 acres of land from land grabbers in south and north taluks on Saturday.

BENGALURU: The Urban District administration has recovered 40 acres of land from land grabbers in south and north taluks on Saturday. 


The estimated value of the land is more than `250 crore, according to sources in the office of the Deputy Commissioner. The joint drive was led by Deputy Commissioner V Shankar, tashsildars Shivakumar, Manjunath and others. 


In Bengaluru South, a total of 13.24 acres land was recovered. Of this, 4.3 kharab land was encroached by Aircraft Employees Cooperative Society. “The land recovered from the Aircraft Employees Society has been earmarked for a burial ground. The total value of the recovered land is about `150 crore,” an official said. 


In Bagaluru of Jala Hobli in Bengaluru North, encroachment of about 26 acres has been cleared. The approximate value of the land is `100 crore, an official said.
