JD(S) MLA HC  Balakrishna surrenders to Karnataka police

Balakrishna, who represents Magadi constituency in Ramanagara district had abused the inspector of the station in the presence of other personnel.

BENGALURU: JD(S) MLA HC Balakrishna surrendered before the court on Friday after he was booked for allegedly using derogatory language against police personnel in Magadi Police Station on Thursday.

Balakrishna, who represents Magadi constituency in Ramanagara district had abused the inspector of the station in the presence of other personnel on Thursday. He was angry at the Inspector for not arresting an accused in one of the cases filed by his party worker.

Coming out of the station, Balakrishna told media persons that he would either attack the police personnel or the police station on Monday if arrests were not made. "We are ready to risk our lives no matter what. I have spoken to the superintendent of police Ramesh.  He too has warned inspector Nandish of dire consequences if timely action is not taken," he had said.

The police filed a FIR against Balakrishna under IPC sections 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 341 (wrongful restraint) and 506 (criminal intimidation) on Thursday. Subsequently, he surrendered before 1st JMFC court of Ramanagara, on Friday.
