Was forced to wed at gun point: IAS aspirant

A woman who passed her IAS prelims this year has alleged that she was kidnapped and forced to marry a man last year.

KALABURAGI: A woman who passed her IAS prelims this year has alleged that she was kidnapped and forced to marry a man last year. She filed a complaint at the Women’s Police station here on Thursday.
She told police that when she was returning home from shopping on July 1 lat year, a man named Parasappa Karamalle, whom she knew, offered to drop her home. Instead he took her to the Afzalpur marriage registrar’s office at gun point and took her signature on some papers saying that they were marriage document.

Later he dropped her near the bus stand after threatening her not to disclose this matter to anybody. There were two other people with him who helped him kidnap her, the girl added.
She said that later she went to New Delhi along with her parents for IAS coaching and cleared the prelims. She returned to Kalaburagi on June 24. Soon after her retur, she alleged that Parasappa started threatening her using a fake wedding card. He allegedly calls her daily on the phone and has been asking her to live with him, the woman said in her complaint.
