CRPF to expand its dog training school

The Central Reserve Police Force’s Dog Breeding and Training School (DBTS) in Bengaluru will be developed into a full-fledged facility to cater to the growing need for highly trained dogs.

BENGALURU: The Central Reserve Police Force’s Dog Breeding and Training School (DBTS) in Bengaluru will be developed into a full-fledged facility to cater to the growing need for highly trained dogs to assist its personnel in anti-insurgency operations.

Additional Director General of Police (South Zone), CRPF, Shailendra Kumar said the DBTS will be developed into the bigger facility at the land given by the state government at Taralu village on Kanakapura Road.

The facility is currently located at the same place, but the land was not sufficient for its expansion. The state government recently gave 200 acres for the development of Group Centre and DBTS. Since only one centre can be developed on that land, CRPF has decided to shift the proposed Group Centre to Uttar Pradesh and use the land for developing the dog training facility.

“The land for the DBTS was not sufficient and in the coming days, the CRPF will need lots of highly trained dogs to assist the force in its operations. Now with the additional land, we are going to have full fledged DBTS training facility at Taralu,” added Kumar.

He was in the city to attend 78th raising day programme held at the CRPF Group Centre in Yelahanka on Thursday. Kumar and other senior officers visited the martyrs memorial and paid homage to martyrs.

Kumar also presented medals and commendation certificates to the officers and jawans who displayed extraordinary courage and leadership during the operations. Over 3,000 CRPF personnel and their family members attended cultural programmes in the evening.
